Yep, the LSU vs. Troy football game has been postponed to November 15 @ 7:00. Why? Because of this stupid Hurricane Gustav! It’s got us all screwed up in Baton Rouge. We still don’t have power at our house, and probably won’t for another week. So the LSU Troy game has been rescheduled to about 2 months from now. Here is what Alleva said in a press release about the canceled Troy LSU game:
“I want to thank Troy and their administration for allowing us to move this game. We are disappointed we couldn’t play the game but with the condition of Baton Rouge, the campus, we could not. There are a lot of logistics that factor into putting on a game. We were concerned with the safety of our fans. The state troopers have other things to worry about than a football game. They have a community to worry about that needs help. My first thought is thank God no one got hurt (on campus). You have to give credit to Governor (Bobby) Jindal for his organization and leadership during this time.”
“Due to the terrible storm, probably the worst in Baton Rouge history, we have been forced to reschedule the game with Troy to November 15. There were a lot of factors in that decision. First is safety. Tiger Stadium suffered a lot of damage. Windows were blown out. We have no power. We don’t know when power will be back on in the stadium. We have to check on the lighting and the scoreboard. It was a university decision and was made early this morning.”
Alec and I have been doing our best to be polite on here to other teams. We’ve tried to not get into name calling, or mentioning just how bad some of our opponents suck. But after seeing so many filthy comments and name calling on this post from you Troy fans, we’re going to tell you how it really is.
TROY- YOU ARE A JOKE! THIS IS A FREAKING SCRIMMAGE GAME FOR LSU! YOU DON’T EVEN BELONG ON THE SAME FIELD AS THE TIGERS! WHY IS LSU PLAYING YOU? BECAUSE WE NEED SOME EASY HIGH SCHOOL TEAMS TO BEAT UP ON EARLY IN THE SEASON TO WARM OUR TIGERS UP!
Monday night football starts next week! Of course you know that ESPN will have all of the Monday night football games in 2008. The first game will be on the following Monday, September 8. First we have Minnesota at Green Bay at 6:00. Then we will get Denver at Oakland at 10:15. Can you believe it’s already here?
This is our favorite Monday night football video. You already know it. It’s the commercial by Hank Williams that every football freak is familiar with. Enjoy!
Alec and I hate USC with a passion. Both of us agree that USC is overrated, loved my the media a bit too much, and could not hang with LSU in a game. Plus we just love to hate USC, so there ya go. Today we decided to go over the USC schedule and compare it to LSU’s just for fun. What we found didn’t surprise us. USC has a weak schedule, in comparison.
Looking at the 2008 USC Trojans football schedule, here is who they play: Virginia, Ohio State, Oregon State, Oregon, Arizona State, Arizona, Washington, Washington State, California, Stanford, Notre Dame, and UCLA.
Now let’s compare that to the 2008 LSU Tigers football schedule: Appalachian State, Troy, North Texas, Auburn, Mississippi State, Florida, South Carolina, Georgia, Tulane, Alabama, Ole Miss, and Arkansas.
Now we agree that LSU starts the 2008 season off with 3 easy games, but it gets really nuts after that. What do you think? Which team has the tougher schedule? What schedule would you rather play?
We’ll add more to this later, but we wanted to write a quick summary of the LSU App State game while it’s fresh in our minds. Bottom line- LSU 41, App State 13.
The Tigers looked absolutely great in the first half. LSU had no turnovers for the first two quarters, dominated every aspect of the game, and looked like the defending national champions they are.
We looked a little sloppy in the second half, allowing Appalachian State to score one touchdown and two field goals against us. Jared Lee also threw an interception in the third quarter that was just a dumb throw straight to the App State defender. Of course our punting game showed how scary it can be in the second half as well with two really bad punts back to back.
Nevertheless, LSU crushed Appalachian State easily. It was a great game for the Tigers, and a great game for us LSU freaks!
With seconds to go until halftime in the LSU App State game, Charles Scott rushed straight up the middle from the 28 yard line to get his second touchdown of the day, and the fourth touchdown in the 2008 season opener for LSU. At halftime, LSU is crushing Appalachian State by the score of 31 to 0!
What can we say? This game is all LSU. In every aspect of the game, the Tigers are just completely dominating App State. So much for a tough/ close game huh?
The quarterback worries for LSU seem to have been resolved. I don’t think that many of us Tiger fans were fully confident in Hatch and Lee controlling our offense, but it looks like our fears were misplaced. Between these two, we have really solid and reliable leaders for the Tiger offense right now. Both of them are absolutely in control of their game. That’s great news for the Tigers!
There have been no turnovers by either team so far. That by itself is pretty amazing.
App State has never really threatened to score. They did drive the ball well to get past mid-field on their opening drive, but that’s about it. The App State quarterback has taken some serious shots from the LSU defense, including one that knocked his helmet off his head. App State looks a little clueless on the field so far, and it’s bound to get worse as the stomping continues.
Our Tigers offensive line is absolutely controlling the line. They are pushing the App State defensive line around at will, and opening up some monster holes as a consequence. This has enabled the Tigers to rush straight through the line for some huge runs, including several for Charles Scott that have resulted in over 100 yards rushing for him so far already.
It’s all LSU folks. This is a complete blowout. Not to be too rude, but this is the SEC you’re playing App State. You are facing the power of LSU, the leader in the SEC. This isn’t Michigan and the whimpy Big Ten conference folks. You’re playing real football now- SEC football!
BLOW THEM AWAY TIGERS! DON’T HOLD BACK! SHOW THE WORLD THAT THERE IS NO CONFERENCE LIKE THE SEC, AND THERE IS NO FOOTBALL TEAM LIKE LSU!!!!!!!!!!!!
