We Got Our Economic Stimulus Check!

This has nothing to do with LSU football, so you may want to skip it. We just got our economic stimulus check in the mail today!
Some people call this a special tax refund check or a rebate check from the U.S. government, but it’s really an “economic stimulus”. This payment has nothing to do with refunding our taxes. It’s a special grant, per se, that all tax paying citizens are getting this year to help the economy pull out of it’s slump (some would say we are in a recession). Supposedly, all of us are going to get these one time payments from the government and go out and spend it on all kinds of goods and services. This is supposed to “stimulate” the economy back to life, and all of a sudden our economic situation is nice and happy.
We just filed our taxes a few days before they were due, even though we were getting a refund. According to the I.R.S., we weren’t supposed to get our economic stimulus check until August of this year. The way i figured it, we probably wouldn’t be getting it until sometime in September (you know how slow the I.R.S./ government is when they owe you something) at best. Lord were we surprised when it came in the mail today! I have been reading stories online for weeks where people are actually counting on this payment from Uncle Sam to survive. People are calling the I.R.S. and Treasury Department to find out if they can request to get their stimulus check early. Thankfully, we weren’t that desperate for this, but I sure won’t be giving it back any time soon!
We got a total of $2,100 today. The way you figure out how much your stimulus check will be is to add $600 per adult and $300 per kid, as long as you paid taxes for 2007. In our case we had two adults (my wife and I), and three kids (A, Q, and J). That comes to a total of $2,100, which is exactly $2,100 more than we ever would have expected to get!
If you have been wondering “When will I get my economic stimulus check?”, this should be good news for you. We got ours three months early, so now we can hurry and help this economy get rolling (I’m buying 2 snow cones tomorrow).
