LSU vs. Troy 2008
Aug 2nd, 2008 by gtull1

The LSU vs. Troy football game will be held at Tiger Stadium in Baton Rouge, Louisiana on September 6, 2008. The game is scheduled to start at 7:00 P.M. Central Time, but every Tiger fan knows that can change at any moment if some TV people pick the game up. As far as we know, it is not currently set to be televised.
This will be the second game of the season for the NATIONAL CHAMPION LSU Tigers, following the LSU vs. Appalachian State game on August 30. The Tigers are the defending BCS National Champions of 2007, with a regular season record of 10 and 2, plus a win in the 2007 SEC Championship and the BCS game.
What do we know about Troy? Not enough. If some of you Troy fans could fill us in here, that would be great! What we do know is: They are called the Troy University Trojans. The Trojans finished the 2007 season with an 8 and 4 record. They did not attend a bowl game in 2007. The head coach for Troy is Larry Blakeney. Their offensive coordinator is Neal Brown, and their defensive coordinator is Jeremy Rowell. The returning quarterback for Troy University is Tanner Jones, who led the team in passing last year with 161 yards in a game. As members of the Sun Belt Conference in Alabama, Troy is looking to greatly improve their record in 2008.
How will this game turn out? We really don’t know hardly anything about Troy, but our prediction for the LSU vs. Troy game is a complete blowout. Unless some of you can convince us otherwise, we see this battle ending with a score favoring LSU in the 73 - 10 range. Are we overly optimistic? Probably so, but hey, we are the Tigers!!!!

So what do you think Tiger fans and Trojans? Will we have a game, or is this going to be one of those that is better to listen to on the radio?
GEAUX TIGERS!!

That’s about 3 times the Los Vegas odds - I’ll take Troy and 63 points any day
I’ll take Troy and 60 points any day - Troy has not been beat that bad in about 100 years - you escaped a whipping in 2004 by 4 points in the last 2 minuets of the game - of course you might get LUCKY again this year
73-10 seriously…… I dont think Troy has ever lost to a team by that much….. ever. We played UGA down to a 10 point game last year and played a tough game against Arkansas and UF. In 2006 we lead FSU until the 4th and played a tough game against G-tech. Also we only lost to LSU by a couple points in 2004. So before making outlandish predictions and writing and an article in which you say you know nothing about us do a little research please.
Troy’s athletics site is troytrojans.com and a popular forum site is gotroytrojans.com any one is welcome to come and join the banter.
How quickly you forget about 2004. 80,000+ fans breathing a sigh of relief after barely pulling it out in the last 3 minutes of the game. I guess a national championship can cause selective memory loss.
If you’re willing to put money on that prediction, I’ll gladly take that spread. =)
Just an FYI, you might want to do a little research on the QB situation. Its not that hard to find information about us. Heck, even crappy media sites like collegefootballnews.com can give you a little insight as what to expect.
Hope all are safe from Gustav! Looking forward to the matchup.
What do you think of your great LSU team after Auburn, Alabama and now Troy all from Alabama beats-up on LSU.
Troy 24 LSU 21
Are you an idot or what?? There is no way in the He11 that LSU can beat anybody by 60 points…You guys are not that good. First of all your offense is not explosive enough to score 70 points. Sure you may win the game but get realistic….Second, Troy defense is much better than App St’s and you didnt score 50…You’re so sick I’m not going to waste any more time on you….ALL I HAVE TO SAY IS DON’T MAKE PLANS TO BE IN THE TAILGATE AREA DRINKING BEER AT HALF TIME…..TROY WILL SHOW UP!!!
Why don’t you do your homework you idiot…Tanner Jones is not the starting QB, nor was he last year. I seem to remember a pretty tight game in 2004 vs. Troy.
The last time Troy played LSU was in 2004. We did perform well against LSU and almost won that game with the score of 24 (LSU) to 20(Troy).
That was a different team for both sides of the house. I do not see any blowouts this time around either. Troy is used to tough teams, this is nothing new. I won’t lay it all out here in this forum, you can google it to learn more about the program. I don’t see LSU getting more than 10-15 points at the close of the 4th. I promise you Les won’t take the Trojans for granted…
you are a dumbass!!!! Ever wonder why people throught out the southeast think you cajuns are sooo ignorant? Well now you have a clue. If you dont remember last time TROY and LSU met, Troy was still TROY ST. LSU had to come from behind to beat us at YOUR homecoming back in ‘04 when you guys one the national champioship the year before in ‘03 in the last 2 minutes of the game. So get a clue, you may beat us or you may not, either way, get your facts straight on our stats and who we are111
Troy fan #1,2,5,6,7,9…
Calm down.
While we may not take you out behind the wood shed and pound on you to the tune of 77 to 0–or will we?–the name calling is always obsessive. Original Cajuns are some of the most strong, independent, and enduring people you would be so lucky to ever meet.
Now, 2004 is a year that LSU did not exactly set on fire. ‘Coach- NFL-then-Bama’ (Nick Saban) had a foot out the door all year, we lost our bowl game to Iowa, and we only reached 9 wins. There was not one consistent qb, so the offense flopped from Randall to Russell and back and forth all year, and many talented senior leaders (and some juniors) left to pursue the NFL while hot off the NC Title win over the OK Sooners.
Before trash talking, let’s wait to see the game.
