If You Say A Football Is Round, You’re Gay!?

Alec and I had a conversation with a guy from Europe a few days ago. This guy is an internet pro, and he’s been helping us set up a few new programs for this site and a few others. Of course he wanted to know all about the sites we run, so we started naming all of them and then got to the site that we love- LSU Football Freak!
As soon as we said that we had a “football” site, this fella got all excited. It was obvious from the tone in his voice that he was a huge football fan. He quickly asked me for the address to this site, so we gave it to him. He then looked it up on his computer and started making noises like, “Huh? Ummm… What?” He seemed to be confused, so we asked him if he was having a problem loading the site. He explained that it loaded fine, but he had never heard of a football team by the name of “LSU”, and he was sure that he was very familiar with every football team in the world.
Well I suddenly realized that this guy in Europe was a fan of soccer, not football. Of course you know that they call their game football over there, while we call it soccer. They call our game “American football”. I explained the confusion to this man and he got a big chuckle out of it. He told us that he had been a fan of football… soccer… all of his life, but he had never watched a game of American football. To make a long story short, we promised to mail him a copy of one of our LSU videos so that he can watch a dominating football team in action.
When we got off the phone Alec still didn’t understand what was happening. I explained the whole confusion to Alec and he gave me a weird look. He said something to the effect of, “So Dad, that man thinks that soccer is football? Is he gay or something?”
Sorry if I offended anyone, but Alec just cracked me up and I had to share it with someone.
