Is The LSU App. State Game Canceled?
Aug 28th, 2008 by gtull1

Everyone is asking us if the LSU vs. Appalachian State game is canceled or not? With this STUPID Hurricane Gustav coming for us by next Monday probably, as a category 3 most likely, it seems like the LSU season opener would be canceled, right? Well…
Nope, the LSU App State game is not canceled. According to the LSU Athletics Department, the game will be played this Saturday in Tiger Stadium, as scheduled. But they will close down the P Mac on game day due to the assembly center being used as an emergency evacuation shelter and first aid shelter for Hurricane Gustav.
Now let us ask you this. Should this LSU football game be canceled? We say “YES”! Just 3 years after Katrina screwed up our season, we know what a hurricane can do to a ball game. With just about all of the parishes around us being evacuated ahead of the storm, no hotel rooms in Baton Rouge, likely no gas, no bread, no milk, the very real possibility of the interstate being shut down to one way traffic, flights in and out of Baton Rouge probably being canceled, and God knows what else, you would think that the LSU Appalachian State game would be delayed or moved to safer grounds. Sure, we want to go to this game just as bad as any of you, but is this the right thing to do? While people are grabbing their belongings and getting the hell out of Louisiana, are we seriously going to gather to watch a ball game? Hmmm… that just doesn’t sound right to us.
LSU— Please move this game to an off week, or find another place to play it. We have a lot to do in the next few days to take care of our families that are in the path of the storm. We love LSU, obviously, but this just isn’t right.
